Job Description

Encounter Church (Elim) is looking for a gifted and passionate individual to join our staff team to further the church’s extensive work amongst children within the heart of Birmingham.

The role will include building upon well-established provision and outreach (for ages 0-10) in and through the church and into the wider community.

Encounter Church is in Selly Oak and continues to thrive as a church involving people of all ages, backgrounds and from many nations. As the church grows, we are seeing an increasing number of opportunities for reaching out to children, youth, families, students & young adults – being located close to local hospitals and universities.

It is our privilege to serve people in the southwest of Birmingham; including those who are local or have moved here from other parts of the UK and from around the world.

The basis of what we do is to demonstrate God’s love to people, whatever their age, background, or season of life.

Our mission involves:

  • ENCOUNTERING JESUS                                                                             Helping people to connect with Him wherever they are – and helping others to know Him personally.
  • RAISING DISCIPLES                                                                      Learning to live in the fullness of God’s blessing and purpose in each area of our lives – and helping others grow in their understanding of His ways.
  • RELEASING MISSIONARIES                                                      Supporting, encouraging & equipping followers of Christ to make a difference wherever God places or sends them.

The successful applicant will enjoy working alongside our Youth and Student workers, benefitting from the experience and support of our team of pastors and wider leadership team. Encounter’s children’s work also links strongly with Elim’s regional and national provision, ‘Limitless’, giving opportunity for connecting with other children’s workers within the area.
